Book reviews and author videos are critical tools for introducing your next book and The Authors Show provides some valuable resources to attract as many readers and publishers as possible. I’ve produced over 80 book reviews for Peace Corps Worldwide among other platforms. This month my latest review of Mark Wentling’s book (Honduras 1967-73 & Togo 1970-73), Falling Seven Times was published in the Authors Show’s new digital magazine, “Great Writers You Should Be Reading.” You can see it in the January edition on pages 10-11. In October, they published my review of Mark Jacob’s (Paraguay 1978-80), Silent Light (pages 16-17) for the entire review.
I met the founder of The Authors Show, Danielle Hampson in 2016 through the Phoenix Writers Club. I had just begun writing my first book, Different Latitudes: My Life in the Peace Corps and Beyond. It was published by the Peace Corps Writers Group (PCW), but I was clueless on how to market it. Danielle and her Associate Don McCauley interviewed me and produced a video on the writing of my book. The interviews would be aired via a podcast at a specific time so I could invite my friends and potential readers and posted on the website for others to see. The video would go on the first screen of my new website, The Million Mile Walker, which Don helped set up. The Authors Show connects me to thousands of digital platforms and journals for readers, writers and publishers.
Since then, I’ve published 25 essays in literary journals and two other books including My Saddest Pleasures: 50 Years on the Road named Best Travel Book by PCW. John Coyne, Marian Hailey Beil and many fellow Returned Peace Corps Volunteer authors such as Mark Jacobs, Mark Wentling, Craig Storti, Lawrence Lihosit and John Thorndike among others. PCW is a powerful network representing some 3,300 RPCV writers.
Three years ago, I was asked to be a contributor to the Authors Show, submitting book reviews and most recently as a judge in the best book cover competition. Last month, Danielle Hampson who now lives in Europe, returned to Ariona so I set up a presentation for the Phoenix Writers Club and the Arizona Authors Association where I’m a board member. Danielle was developing podcasts for authors before podcast was a common term (over twenty years ago). Her presentation and response to follow-up questions were appreciated by all the writers who attended.
Previous to her presentation, the Phoenix Writers Club President asked all attendees to donate one of their books to a program Danielle set up to benefits groups that don’t have access to books. Then we took several boxes of the books to the Andre House of Hospitality in downtown Phoenix which we’ve done several times over the years. The Andre Huse serves the homeless. Writing and publishing books successfully is a team sport. As a member of the Peace Corps Worldwide Writers’ Group’s Advisory Board, we hope to bring additional resources to our fellow RPCV writers and The Authors Show is one of them. Contact me with any questions at www.Millionmilewalker.com
Way to go, Mark! It's RPCVs such as yourself that energize this platform, and with you in a grand way. I really appreciate your turning me onto The Author's Show and Don at Freepublicity, et al. They're doing excellent work for me and other likeminded scribblers. Much appreciated!!!

Hi Mark, thanks for sharing this resource. I’m an RPCV (Ukraine Group 35), and I have a memoir coming out next month! Killer Story: The Truth Behind True Crime TV, is about my post-Peace Corps career at CBS News 48 Hours, but I do have several Peace Corps anecdotes and references sprinkled in there. Would love if you’d read and review it!
